What is Pilates?
Pilates was created by its founder, Joseph Pilates in which his aims were to improve physical and mental health through specific Pilates exercises. Pilates improves muscle strength, balance and posture in individuals working around ones central core. Evidence shows that Pilates can improve back pain in patients with nonspecific lower back pain.
The chartered Physiotherapist will adapt the exercises taking into account your individual strengths and weaknesses to get the best out of your Pilates classes. If you suffer from any pain or discomfort when performing the exercises, stop and please inform the physiotherapist taking the class immediately, they can then adapt the exercise accordingly.
